Contemporary Ottoman Tray with Purple Resin

This large handcrafted hardwood Ottoman Tray is made from Scottish Elm and purple resin. It has multiple uses not only as a tray but also as an interesting piece of wall art!

The wood for this ottoman tray was sourced from a local wood yard and selected to create a stunning one-off piece. It blends contemporary and traditional design and would sit comfortably in almost any setting. In essence, this is a functional piece of art, equally at home if hung from a wall as it is in its intended guise – as a large ‘statement piece’ ottoman tray.

The wood, which was sustainably grown, is ‘spalted burr elm’ which has been sliced to create two ‘book-matched’ halves. This technique gives the tray symmetry and a uniquely individual design. The elm has been encapsulated in purple resin and flood coated to achieve a ‘watery’ gloss finish.

The tray has a recessed bottom for strength and it sits on rubber feet for further stability. A secure wall fixing is also discretely attached to the underside to allow for wall hanging – the feet act as frame bumpers to protect the wall.

All exposed wood surfaces have been finished with hard wax oil. 100% UK made.
