Walnut Chess Box and Pieces

This handmade chess box is the ultimate gift for the discerning chess player! Made from a beautiful single piece of American Walnut, this box is truly one-of-a-kind.

Measuring 44cm x 24cm x 15cm the box has been designed to accommodate the largest Staunton chess pieces which sit neatly into their magnetised locating holes. The design ensures that the pieces remain securely in place during transportation and while the board is not being played.

The lid of the box combines burr elm, ancient bog oak and resin to create a design that reflects the design of the chess board – which can be purchased separately.

The Staunton tournament chess pieces are moulded, triple+ weighted and resin filled. Each piece is hand painted, resin coated and finished with a felt base. All the pieces from pawns to the Kings are reassuringly heavy. The Kings stand 10.2cm (4in) tall and sit on 4.8cm diameter bases. Each King weighs over 70g. The set of 34 pieces comes with two extra Queens for pawn promotion.
