‘Thistle’ Wall Art

Handmade from Scottish elm and dark blue resin, this piece is essentially wall art that can also be used as a small ottoman tray.

The wood has been sliced to create two ‘book-matched’ halves. This technique gives the piece symmetry and a uniquely individual design. This piece resembles a Scottish thistle. (Hence the reason for the dark blue resin!). The elm has been flood coated with heat resistant resin to achieve a ‘watery’ gloss finish.

The piece has a recessed bottom for strength and sits on rubber feet for further stability. A secure wall fixing is also discretely attached to the underside to allow for wall hanging – the feet act as frame bumpers to protect the wall.

All exposed wood surfaces have been finished with hard wax oil.
