This large handmade table lamp is made with beautiful London Plane and ‘glass’ coloured resin which has been polished to achieve a high gloss finish.
London Plane trees have long been planted in London parks and streets (as well as in other UK cities). They are well suited to urban environments and since the 1600s have been planted help clean up air pollution (History of the London Plane Tree).
The wood used in making this lamp (which is also known as ‘lacewood’ due to its distinctive grain) has been sustainably sourced from trees cut from parks and streets as part of a program of tree husbandry and urban development.
Solid brass fittings have been used to give the lamp a contemporary finish and the ‘live edge’ has been painted gold to create a striking contrast between the wood and resin. The lamp also sits on brass ball feet.
All wood surfaces have been treated with a natural wax oil finish.
The lamp conforms to HSE PAT regulations. It comes with a shade, low energy bulb and is good to go!
